This is an all-in-one course bundle for NYC construction supervisors and managers. Supervisors can renew a current DOB-issued Site Safety Training card with this 100% online training package.

How Often Do I Have to Renew My SST Card?

SST cards expire five years after the date of issue. The issue date is printed on the front of your DOB-issued card. If your first SST card was issued in 2020, for instance, you must renew your training in 2025, 2030, 2035, etc.

You may complete the same refresher courses every time you renew.

What Are the Prerequisites to Be Eligible for an SST Refresher Card?

To be eligible for an SST Refresher card, your original SST training must have been completed with an approved provider who uploaded your card to the NYC Department of Buildings' Training Connect system. Unfortunately, not all training providers do this. If your card isn't in the system, we cannot issue a refresher card, even if you complete our course.

To check if your original SST card is in the system, you can use the Training Connect smartphone app. The app connects directly to the NYC DOB's Training Connect database.

How to check your card status:

  1. Download the free app called Training Connect by myComply on App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android).
  2. Open the app and allow camera access.
  3. Scan your SST card's QR code using the app.
  4. If your card appears as valid, it has been uploaded, and you are eligible for a refresher card.

If the app shows “Invalid SST card,” this likely means your original provider did not upload your information to Training Connect. In this case, we encourage you to reach out to your original SST card provider and kindly ask them to upload your information to the DOB's Training Connect system. If they fail to do so, you must retake the original SST training rather than the refresher version.

Rest assured that all SST cards issued by OSHA Education Center are fully compliant and uploaded to Training Connect.

If you're unsure about your card's status or don't have a QR code to scan, we recommend checking with your original provider or contacting us before enrolling in a refresher course.

Can I Apply Training Courses I Completed with Another Provider Toward My SST Card Renewal?

Yes. Valid certificates of completion issued by other training providers are counted toward your renewal requirements.

If you have completed some refresher training with a different DOB-approved SST course provider, you may upload your certificate and proof of identity. Once we validate your training, you will receive credit for your work.

What Do I Have to Do to Get My New SST Card?

The simple process to request a new SST card is the same for workers and supervisors. We will assist you through each step.

Select and purchase the package that matches your current SST card (worker or supervisor). Complete all lessons and pass the final exams in both courses.

Then, upload a few requested documents, including a picture of the front and back sides of your current DOB-issued card.

After that, wait for your new, official SST card to arrive by mail. The replacement card will include a new issue date and expiration date.

Can I Choose My Own Training Courses to Renew My SST Card?

No. The curriculum for SST refresher training is set by New York City Local Law 196. Students must follow one of several approved course tracks to qualify for SST card renewal.

While courses may be taken individually, students may not mix and match between available tracks. It is simpler and more cost-effective to select a training bundle.

Our SST refresher training packages include a complete set of approved courses for either workers or supervisors.

What Happens if My SST Card Expires Before I Renew?

Only current cards are eligible for renewal. If your card expires before you finish your refresher training, you must start over as a new student.

That means you would have to complete initial training for either construction workers or construction supervisors again to earn a new SST card.

You may begin refresher training up to one year before your current card is due to expire. Pay close attention to your expiration date. It is much faster and easier to renew than it is to repeat initial training.

Can I Use Refresher Training to Upgrade from an SST Worker Card to an SST Supervisor Card?

No. You must select the refresher training that matches your current DOB-issued SST card.

Cardholders cannot switch card types from worker to supervisor or supervisor to worker by using a refresher training package.
